Thats a coool sled!  Aside from the tin work you have to do it looks really good.  The carb cover is still there along with all the lighting hardware!  Even has the 63 fancy exhaust.

Cool find.

Ok, I got the tracks on after remodeling the inside adjusters alittle!lol
Now as you see in pic the steering post was rusted in place, that's all fixed now,but my question is what keeps the steering post from sliding out the bottom when you have front jacked up and the hood isn't on to hold the post? Am I missing something and is there a bushing( plastic) on the post where it enters the top of body by tank to take up slop? Thanks hotdoo

Still working some bugs out,the hood was a real pain to remove and install,so I opened up the filler neck hole for better clearance. Also the sled came with the little bearing mounted just below the exit hole on handlebar,I did put a new in as it shows in pic,but realized after it wasn't stock. Still deciding to remove it or cut the spring under handlebars down alittle,It is really hard trying to put them on end of handlebars with spacer and spring stock.

Nice job hotdoo, looking really slick.  I've got some parts you might want...  handle bar grips and glovebox door with brass tag , correct brass gas cap, new windshield shaped and drilled properly. Send me a PM or email me at

Got a question. Anyone know the size- length and wide of the belt that fits this? I tried a 6004 belt but it is tight. Thanks

Im not sure of the exact dimensions, but according to the old parts list book an RD-8 is supposed to have a 570-0409 (SK-85).  That part number is true for 63, 64, 65, 66.

Then it changes to 570-0411 for 67, 68, and 69 (with the std transmission)

Then with the fwd / reverse it started using 570-0414.

I have to figure out what belt to put on mine too.  Since I have the fwd/reverse I will look for the last one.  Now all we have to do is cross reference these numbers to belts we can actually find.

I looked through the parts list books for the info, and all that is available here if you need it

Hi guys. I have a cross reference chart. The 570-0414 crosses to a Gates 6027 or a dayco GTS744. I hope this helps, it's all I have.
