I hauled out the old 68 Olympic from under the deck. I remember now why I left it for another day. It will not idle much at all. Starts and runs fine, but when the throttle is released it just slows down until it stops. It may go for a little bit some times, but basically when it backs off to return down to idle speed it will just stop.
It's a 10hp with a really small tilitison carburetor. I never got the part number, I can next time I go out. Any suggestions?  I'm guessing carburetor but would like to know exactly what to pay attention too?

I'd eliminate any suspicion and rebuild it with new oem parts a pop off spring 24b-299 and nozzle check valve 363-801. The HL's are great and very efficient carbs of the HL HR and HD. With the right parts she'll idle all day long without loading up or leaning out.

Any suggestions where to get parts. I know if I go to local parts suppliers they look at me like I have two heads. If its older than 3 or 4 yrs, its "old".

Sure. You can get these parts from EC Distributing.
P3-RK kit for single stack Tillotson
363-501 Nozzle Check Valve for HL
24b-299 Pop Off Spring
021-Alternate Pop off spring

These are oem parts. This kit has a couple of extra welch plugs not used on the HL for sleds. These parts will ensure an efficient fuel system. i also recommend the strainer type filter as opposed to the screw on but thats optional. For the few dollars extra for the plastic cover and screw it will beat the cost of the disposable. I would ask them for the fine screen as opposed to the bras screen supplied in the kit. It flows well enough but traps better.

I need a plug screw than screws down from the top of the body channel. Gas sprays out without one in there. Tried searching and got 400+ things. You don't have a part # for one of those do you? Thanks
