Is it possible to put a newer style recoil on a single Rotax? If so what parts-type are people using.

Howdy SCM.    There may be several ways to change up ??
On my 340 lunger racer I have a set up from a early 80s Elan. I am fairly sure they changed the style in 80. Far better than the older style.
I know you don`t see a lot of them available but sure they are out there. I have never really looked into it too much but likely a lot of the parts are same as twins. I think the toughest thing to find would be what is called the "pulley spacer", I am sure this part would be unique to the Elan.
Check out the 96 Elan on the Ski-Doo web site "parts", you will find the recoil break down.
Good luck,    Bones

Actually I would look at the parts for the latest elans up to 96. They have the same bolt pattern but use the newest style pawl system. It wont have that familiar wind sound but will act like the new style for grabbing etc. If you search images for:1996 ski-doo elan recoil you will see what the components consist of.
