How disappointing to F.H. was this victory?
Despite putting several former Xplosion players on the court and having a juggler, courtside emcee playing music, and a brillant version of the waterdance ensemble for entertainment only 200-300 fans showed up for the Pittsburgh ABA championship.
In typical Bassets fashion, they hit the boards hard, played solid defense (imo), and scored when the ball went through the basket. When the ball did not go through the basket they did not score, but came close several times also. The shirts matched the shorts well and they looked very athletic (imo).
The Phantoms were gracious in defeat and left the court quickly for the Bassets to celebrate with their fans. The party looked huge with all people on the court celebrating wildly. When asked immediately after the game for the MVP reaction, Degroat flashed his trademark smile and said "I'm going to Quizno's!". I am not sure how many other Basset players went with him, but usually a couple players go.
No word on what Armon Gilliam did after the game as I refuse to have any interaction with him (the EPO filed against me is still in effect by the way...and no I was not the one calling and hanging up several times after the game).
The ABA is lucky to have the Bassets as a travel team this season and look forward to having them as a complete league member for 2010-2011.
Thanks again and I appreciate the new members calling in to the radio show.
Love,
The skipper

as reported on my radio show this week, the best of three series will allow the winner to be the only ABA team for the 2009-2010 season. I think the tipoff is at 730 for each game. The venue has not been decided yet. I think the games will be played indoors though. The are busy painting some basketballs red, white, and blue right now to get ready for the season. If anyone has any extra blue paint, please let us know as we are running short and some basketball might have to be red, white, and gold.
Thanks again for your support of my radio show.

General Category / Xplosion Feedback / Interview with former Xplosion coach Coarlos Knox |

I had a chance to sit down and interview Coach Knox recently and get his opinions and honest answers about minor league basketball and the city of Pittsburgh.
If you are interested I will have my webservants try to put up audio and video of the interview.
Some questions were:
Why did the Xplosion fail?
Why did the owners not promote more?
Why did the dance squad not get paid?
What is the real story about Armon Gilliam and why does he not want me calling him anymore?
Do you like hamloaf or liverwurst better?
What was your favorite coaching experience?
Who was the best player to wear a Xplosion jersey?
What team had the best rivalry?
What size shoe does Degroat wear?
Have you ever dated a woman with dentures?
What's the highest score ever by a team you've coached?
What the fastest you've scored with a woman?
Did you get help from the owners for lodging?
Do you think S.E.X. was better than S.O.X.?
How does gums feel on your tallywacker?
He really was open and revelaing in his answers such as: yes, no, and of course.
I will try to have my intranet webservant Raul post the entire interview.
Love,
The Skipper

I think the most exciting will be throwback jersey night where the bassets will be honoring the rich tradition of Pitt basketball by having Xplosion jerseys with a silent auction for all leftover merchandise and memorabilia from PEC. I know that tickets have been selling well and I expect a sellout for this game at least.
I am so excited for the upcoming season,
Love,

Congrats to the Bassets for the teams' first win.
although the game was marked by 6 ejections and the mascot had his tail stepped on (which caused 3 fans to be tossed out), the game was great to watch.
anytime you can win by double digits after only having a handful of practices shows how talented this team will be. Great stats from Degroat and Armon is doing great as player/coach.

| Whoever has filled you in on this is mistaken as multiple members attended the game and no "youngstown swish" was in attendence. the Bassets won 111-102. |

The Pittsburgh Phantoms hosted the Youngstown Swish at the New Castle Y-Zone on Saturday night, in a scrimmage and lost, 111-102, in ABA pre-season.
The teams will open the season at Court Time in Elizabeth, Pa. on Sat.(12-5).

although i am still in favor of S.E.X., i went to see the Bassets/Phantoms game. Armon looked in great shape and Degroat played well despite the missed alleyoop. I looked around for any Xplosion sweatshirts or signs but didnt see any. KC, did you not go to support fan-friendly, affodable basketball that gives local players a chance? if you did not go, shameon you for missing a great Bassets win.
by the way, coach knox thinks the ABA is better than the PBL. so i say ABA also.
