One of my favorite American haunts in high in the mountains of Colorado. The town of Victor and, to a lesser degree since it is a tourist gambling haven, nearby Cripple Creek offer settings frozen in days a hundred years past.

The best way to experience the time capsule element is to drive west of Pueblo and take "Phantom Canyon" up, though I'd recommed a good SUV for this red clay road of wonder. I've been up twice, couple of years apart, and the scenery and isolation is splendorful.

I picked up a local booklet on the history of Victor and its ghosts and legends. It made for wonderful study while holed up in the bed and breakfast at Cripple Creek, formerly a hospital.

Didn't see any ghosts, but slipped out of our small room to use the shower down the hall late at night and wouldn't have been surprised one bit to encounter a local spirit around any corner. Great vibe... one of my all time favorites.
