Breaking news from JPW:

http://www.speakingofstrange.com/

Joshua P. Warren Announcement:

Speaking of Strange Farewell Shows, Oct. 22 & 29, 2011

The closing of one door; opening of another . . .

Dear Friends,

For almost 8 years, SPEAKING OF STRANGE has
had a great run at News Radio 570 WWNC in Asheville,
North Carolina. We have consistently retained high ratings
and a huge amount of web traffic. What began as a local
show now has fans all over the world, thanks to the internet.

But the world is changing quickly, and
we are changing with it:

The staff of WWNC has always been geared toward day-
time programming. It has consistently been a challenge
to find producers for a late-night shift on Saturdays. Betwixt
restrictions on hiring new staff, producer Forrest's limited
availability, my hectic travel schedule, and ball game
preemptions, the show's schedule has become more and more
unpredictable and irregular. Therefore, the management at
the station, and I, feel it's best to wind down this version of
the show while we're on top. Because of scheduling restrictions
with producers, there will be no SOS Oct. 8 & 15.
However, we plan a return for two last programs, October 22
and our big, final Halloween hurrah on October 29,  9pm-midnight
east coast (New York) time. I hope you will join us for this live,
historic party on the air!

I know this news is sad for many of you. But don't despair.

Because here's the good news:

For years I have wanted to do a version of this show that is
not censored by the FCC, and can be broadcast on-location
from any of the wild places I investigate around the globe.
Therefore, I plan to continue doing a version of the program,
available online and via podcasts, that will allow this freedom.
Though the program will always have a slant toward Asheville,
this would also allow us to focus even more on the world-wide
audience we have built. To stay informed on the progress of this
project, it's very important that you visit JoshuaPWarren.com
right now and sign up for my free e-newsletter, plus follow me
on Twitter.

Here are two more things you should do:

Soon, all the podcasts of SOS will probably disappear from the
WWNC site. Therefore, I hope all of you will help in the process of
downloading and backing them up somewhere on your computer. Just
download and back up whatever you can. Later we'll create a board
where everyone can pitch in and re-post that stuff for posterity.
We've had some unforgettable moments on the air! You can begin
downloading old shows for free at:

Speaing Of Strange Podcasts

Lastly, since we are now at a point of transition, we are open to
all ideas on how to proceed. If you have a station in your area that
might want to carry us, or you would like to sponsor our next
incarnation, (we even talked to several syndication companies
and even Goggle) please let us know ASAP. After October 29,
we'll be free agents, and can go anywhere!

You can correspond with me and my staff at:
Business@ShadowboxENT.com

Thanks for all your enthusiastic support every Saturday
night for so many years! And please tune in on October 22
and 29 for the latest on how you can continue enjoying the
fun, creative madness we have perfected on the airwaves.

I know new doors will open and JPW will always be a successful in all his ventures and adventures. But I feel so very sad, SoS was something I always looked forward to on Saturday nights, in touch with the magic of the WNCarolina mountains from the crowded flatlands of Houston, TX. Will be waiting for the next incarnation of SoS. Thanks JPW and the whole cast for being there to report the Strange, Weird, and Fun. eapoe (aka Creepy Poet)
