Definitely one of the most haunted places in the United States, according to L.E.M.U.R.! A truly creepy site.

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Cost: $18 for adults and $10 for children 7-12

Directions: From Broad Street downtown, turn onto Franklin Street. You can't miss the gothic building at 17 Franklin. Ask for Mark Jones or Rebel Sinclair to guide you. (843) 722-TOUR. See www.BulldogTours.com

Hello,
We visited the Old City Jail in Charleston last Saturday
night around 10 pm on one of the ghost tours.
During the tour when we were upstairs, I left the tour
for a moment and went into the room on the left side of
the building and over to the window and looked out onto the
courtyard.  After a minute, I could hear a child crying and then
I saw some sort of small grey shape that seemed to be
looking up at the window.  I was curious as to what this
means.
Does anybody know how I can find out the actual true
history of the people who were kept in the prison and in
what rooms
and why?  I know there were lots of people there, but if
someone can point me in the right direction, I would
appreciate it.  Maybe some historical society in Charleston
that has records of what went on inside this place?
Thanks!

I too would love to know if anyone has any more information. I went on a tour with a friend last week and she felt a sudden rush of emotion and like her entire body became cold and inexplicably could not stop crying.  At the same time, I turned around in the hallway and saw a large shadowy figure standing by where we entered.  [We were at the back of our group].  I know that there apparently aren't a lot of records of what went on in the Jail because there was torture involved but if anyone finds anything?
